With the new year comes the new lineup of Ford cars and SUVs. Among Ford’s selection is their great selling Ford Edge. The Edge is a mid-sized crossover, 5-door SUV. It is the middle ground between Ford’s Escape and Explorer models with pricing that reflects this, but what is new they year?
Ford is sticking with the industry in offering an extensive connectivity package included with the base model Edge. It sports a 4.2 inch touchscreen display along with AUX inputs, Bluetooth and a premium sound system. You can also run Pandora straight from the entertainment system, so no more hooking up your phone to use internet radio.
Moving on to the SE and SEL packages, you can opt for an 8-inch touchscreen with a USB port for added connectivity. This package also includes Ford’s MyFord Infotainment system.
Not much has changed on the powertrain from last year’s models. That being said, Ford does offer a nice selection of engines for this model with the lowest rated, the EcoBoost 2.0L, making 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. While the weakest offering, this engine is no slouch. Ford also gives you the option of a 3.5L v6 making 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque and a 2.7L v6 EcoBoost taking the top place which is capable of producing an impressive 320 horsepower and 350 ft-lbs of torque. This makes the Ford Edge one very fast SUV in its top trim.
The Ford Edge is a great crossover SUV and the 2017 model year has brought several changes to the available equipment, mainly focusing on entertainment. While the powertrain has not changed from last year, it still offers a very impressive engine selection that should satisfy even the most power-hungry customers. That being said, it is well worth checking out the new Ford Edge in Barrington or your local dealership.
