GMC is a division of General Motors that offers a variety of large-model passenger vehicles for individuals who need plenty of space inside a vehicle or want a pickup truck to haul equipment and other items. GMC models also include medium-duty utility trucks. People who don’t want to buy one of these bigger vehicles but need one for short-term use can opt for GMC Van Rental from a local organization.

Categories of GMC Vehicles

Many people don’t realize that GMC once built buses and motorhomes as well. In fact, the division manufactured transit buses until 1987. Now, the division concentrates on producing vans, trucks, sport utility vehicles and crossover models.

Types of GMC Vans

The categories of vans it manufactures are minivans, cargo and cutaway models, currently under the Savana brand. Cutaway vans are essentially box trucks that people can modify for a variety of purposes.
In contrast to the minivan, GMC Van Rental companies can provide the customer with 15-passenger models for larger groups who want to travel together. A few families or a group of friends can attend sporting events or concerts in another city, for instance.

What Does GMC Stand For?

There’s some confusion among the public about what GMC stands for, since General Motors only refers to the division by its initials. GMC does not stand for General Motors Commercial or General Motors Canada, which are common logical guesses.

In the early 1900s, General Motors created the General Motors Truck Company, but referred to the brand as GMC Trucks. GMC eventually came to define the division with trucks and other vehicles with utility uses, with GM the abbreviation for the overseeing corporation. A 2012 New York Times article reports that GMC stands for perhaps the most obvious conclusion: General Motors Corporation.

Enjoying the Advantages

Leasing these vehicles from companies like C.C. Rental allows customers to occasionally enjoy all the advantages of minivans and larger vans without having to buy one. The vans can be rented by the day, week or month, so people can use them for one-day events or to travel on a lengthy vacation if they would like. You can also watch video on their YouTube channel.
